There's a service, and one person at a time goes up to talk to the priest individually. I've only been to one private confession before! That was about five years ago...

2005-01-16 [Tesa]: I don't know what a *private* confession is, but we go to a Confessional, close the door, kneel behind the screen on a kneeler and then say..."Father forgive me, it has been, BLA BLA since my last confession." THEN we say our sins, he asks us, (SOMETIMES) about our sins, THEN asks us to say An Act of Confession and the Priest gives us Absolution! AND THEN! We are ALL GOOD!--And yes, I *actually* study the bible, it's one of the most important things a lay and concecrated person can do! Did you think we didn't?? LOL! No worries any ways, we love Scripture!!^^ I love the Psalms...and...Wisdom...and RUTH! Ruth is by far my favorite besides John!! and Acts..and Luke...Oh gosh the whole BIBLE!

Or, the BIG T! 1 Corinthians 11:2 says "I praise you because you remember me in everything and hold fast to the traditions, just as I handed them on to you." And then, 2 Thess 2:15 says.."Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, either by an oral statement or by a letter of ours." Further on 3:6 says "We instruct you, brothers, in the name of [our] Lord Jesus Christ, to shun any brother who conducts himself in a disorderly way and not according to the tradition they received from us."

The best example I can come up with is the loaves and the fishes...could the miracle have been that Jesus could have persuaded everyone to feed each other? When reading different passages, we analyze why the author includes certain things. It makes the experience much more rewarding in my opinion.

Any ways, what I was going to say is, maybe, if you went to like...ONE or TWO CCD or RCIA classes, they might help. I went to a Protestant class and learned what they thought of Catholic Doctrine and the likes. It was interesting, and going to a Catholic one might give you a different outlook.

For with out prayer, we would have no relationship with God. So, I think that a good prayer life and regular confession is good...=D

2005-01-18 [Tesa]: no no! Nuns live in Monistaries and are cloistered, they don't go out into the world much but pray for every thing all the time! And, are very happy doing so. SISTER'S teach in schools, are nurses, (I wish I could be a nurse..) they do lots of stuff and live in a Convent. So there is a BIG difference.

2005-01-18 [RabidSphinx]: My 22 year old brother is diabetic, has osteoporosis, a hyper active thyroid that throws everything out of balance, lactocintolerant (which screws up his osteoporosis), asthma that keeps him from being too active, which weakens his bones further, and suffers from suicidal tendencies, paranoid, panic attacks, and massive depression…he was just let out of ECMC after trying to kill himself…again...*sighs*

2005-01-18 [Tesa]: Geeze RaineDrop, that's awful. I really do hope and pray that he'll get better. He'll be in my prayers--whether he likes it or not. Your family also. I know how it is to have a Diabetic in the family. I'm asthmatic as well, so yeah...it's hard. But I hope that ALL OF THAT soon can get settled down so he can be able to live a calmer life. *hugs*

2005-01-18 [RabidSphinx]: life is hard because ALL our money goes to my brother's medical expences, and that means that i can't get any extra help that i probably need too...my medical expences alone set us back a few thou a year...and they want to put me on MORE medications and send me to different doctors, and we just can't afford it, so, when it comes to me or my brother, the money goes towards his care instead of mine...

2005-01-18 [Tesa]: Now that stinks....it's hard having medications that are pricy...I am on 4, and that's plenty for me. And dude...they cost a LOT! But don't worry RaineDrop...God will take care of you...*smiles*...Money is hard...meh.....I wish your family the best..
